"I’m Doing Alright For The Shape I’m In! "
- Posted 01.23.2011

Leave it to my new favorite song and it's talented singer Joe Nichols to create the perfect title to my blog!  It's also a very appropriate title for something I rarely do: speak and write! This incredible song inspired me to come out from behind-the-scenes, where I am far more comfy, and talk about what I love!

I love to dream big (from behind the set of course!)

BUT never in my wildest dreams did I think our simple little campaign would inspire our first celebrity, Joe Nichols to do so much more than just sign up.  When he put his boots ON, he took the true spirit of what that actually means and he took action by involving his music. This award winning country music STAR invited US...the Boot Girls to be part of his creative team, to develop his new music video project for the song The Shape I’m In.  I was humbled and honored and of course say "when do we get started"?

The song, hinting of great heartbreak, transforms into an authentic, motivational and inspiring video for people in all walks of life who have suffered loss. It features Veterans like Marcus Luttrell, Chad Fleming and Ivan Castro, the latter of which was blinded during one of his missions. The video clearly depicts what the “new normal” is for our armed forces when they come home from deployment, in spite of many physical and emotional challenges.

One of the motivating lines in the song “the sun came up again this morning” brings hope that everyone can start a new day, no matter what crippling losses were suffered the day before. I’m especially proud and thankful for Joe and his team for making this very poignant video.

So for this Boot Girls, one might ask "Is the video enough?"  No, because remember, I like to dream big! I’d love nothing more than to see these wounded warriors and now STARS be invited on stage when Joe receives an award for Best Video at the next CMA’s. What an honor that would be for these brave men. With the shape it’s in, the video has all the possibilities of turning those big dreams into a reality!
